The hotel Zum Schwan is located at the beginning of the traffic-calmed pedestrian zone in the town of Mettlach. The main house has been awarded 3 stars.
It is only a few minutes’ walk away from the Villeroy & Boch Museum, home of the replicated Dresden milk shop from 1892; the Living Planet Square with the largest ceramic puzzle in the world (137000 parts) and also to the local outlet centres and shops.
Our hotel is an ideal start point for all kinds of excursions in nature, for example to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the region, the Cloef, with a breath-taking view in the “Saarschleife”.
You can wander in the nearby through forests and the Saar-river either with a ship, a bicycle, a motorcycle or by foot.

Apple pie and nut cake on the summer terrace

In the warm season, day tourists, who often come to Mettlach on the excursion boat, enjoy an inexpensive regular meal on the large terrace in front of the Hotel zum Schwan, such as Mettlacher spit roast, in the afternoon a piece of Milanese apple pie or Finnish nut cake with a cup of coffee.

Room with office comfort

Business people on the move have also come to appreciate the cozy atmosphere and the spacious bathrooms in the Schwanen rooms. Flat screen TV, Internet connection and W-Lan offer office comfort. And the car can be parked free of charge in the hotel's own parking lot.

Wanderers' way consumption

Enterprising hotel guests recharge their batteries with a rich "bakery breakfast" in the hotel restaurant. Delicious crusti rye rolls are one of the at least ten fresh roll types that you can choose from. Like the sweet pastries, they come from the Marxen bakery attached to the hotel.

The restaurant kitchen is happy to prepare packed lunches for guests on the go. Spicy sourdough bread slices from "Grandma Emma's Eifellaib" are topped with various sausage slices from regional butchers. Fresh seasonal fruit and a drink are included.

The rich menu of the restaurant with its exquisite game or fish dishes also offers the returnees regional delicacies in the evening. The “Mettlacher Igel”, a hearty meatloaf with a spicy onion sauce, can be accompanied by a Saarland beer or wines from the Saar-Lor-Lux region.

A haven of peace after day trips in the border triangle

50 comfortable beds in bright and friendly furnished rooms offer relaxation in the central hotel and the guest house about 50 meters away after interesting day trips in the border triangle. By train, you can quickly reach picturesque Luxembourg, the Saarland capital of Saarbrücken or Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate with its important Roman cultural assets. The medieval castle Malbrouck (Meinsberg) in Manderen, Lorraine, or Metz with its famous cathedral and the Pompidou Center, which always offers new and attractive exhibitions, can be easily reached by car.

Stop for two-wheeled tourists

The Hotel zum Schwan has also adapted to the special needs of cyclists and motorcyclists. The “Bett & Bike” certification badge indicates this. The two-wheelers will find free, secure and covered shelters, and rain-soaked clothing is taken care of in the drying room. Touring cyclists are also welcome to book just one night, and the Hotel zum Schwan will take care of the transfer of their suitcases to the next Bed & Bike hotel.
